Incredible views! The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in the royal honeymoon suite with the jacuzzi on the deck and the room was beyond amazing and very comfortable! The breakfast was very good and included with the room. It was too cold to use the pool but the pool and jacuzzi area was so beautiful and had great views.

Amazing place to stay, we were lucky enough to book a room with a private deck and pool. The room was beautiful, spacious, immaculate, with the most comfortable bed. Extremely peaceful, with the most incredible views. The staff could not have done more for us, and ensured we were looked after at all times, making our stay even more relaxing. Well Alexander Guest House is one of the best places we have ever stayed in. The welcome, the bedrooms, the cleanliness, the small pool and Jacuzzi on the decking, the view, the breakfast, the lovely ladies serving us each morning, the attention to detail was incredible. Loved Alexander Guest House - situated on a cliff above Knysna, the views are breath taking, and some people manage to spot whales from the balcony which has a plunge pool, sunbeds and a hot tub. The place is sumptuous, and the team are super friendly and will go over and above to make your stay there an excellent one. Superb and plentiful breakfast (varied breakfast menu), huge selection of breads and fruit and all sorts. Great coffee. Fantastic local knowledge about places to go and visit etc - there is so much to do around Knysna! One restaurant within walking distance, plenty more a short drive away. Secure parking. We spent 5 weeks travelling in Africa, and this is the best place, wished we had booked for more than the three nights we stayed.

Absolutely perfect stay and we wish we could have stayed longer. Wonderful attention to detail, breath taking views and sunsets and personalized staff and comfortable cozy stay where all staff called us by our names. Appreciated meeting the owners including Dirk, who showed genuine interest in how we were enjoying ourself. Our suite was giant and the welcome plate and cheese tray was a lovely touch. The private jacuzzi was very warm and our favorite part of the room. Incredibly spacious and we wish we were able to spend more time in Knysna and at the Alexander house. Incredible dinner (especially oysters) at Dry dock nearby. Breakfast was delicious and I had eggs Benedict (pictured below) and there was a nice coi pond underneath the spiral staircase to the establishment. All attention to detail was thought of and surpassed. Exceeded all expectations!

The view is to die for. The rooms was clean and well presented.Lacked nothing.The bed was so comfy and I slept like a baby. The pool was welcoming for a quick swim after a long day travelling which my son thoroughly enjoyed. Safe and secure parking.

The view is of the lake, beautiful sunsets. Full English Breakfast was well prepared. Pool area is enclosed and free of the windy elements on the coastline. Rooms are big and spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful, recommended places by Veronique was well worth it.

Great service and hosts. Very welcoming. Amazing views, sizable swimming pool. Breakfast was lekker! Spa tub rejuvenated the mental and physical well-being. Bed was very comfortable and room had a sophisticated flow to it.

The facilities were excellent - big room with a view to Knysna river, comfy beds and nice swimming pool. Not too far from the city center. Staff attention could have been better, like recommendations on what to do etc. Overall was a good experience.

The vistas at Head Over Hills are truly breathtaking and remain timeless. The infinity pool is exceptional, and the cuisine is delightful. The staff members are exceptionally accommodating, ensuring that all our needs were met. I’m certainly coming back here for my next Knysna visit!

This is a very stylish property situated on the edge of the cliff giving it tremendous views of the ocean. The staff were kind and helpful and looked after us without hovering over our shoulders. Dinner was excellent and the cook does a great job. The wine list is excellent as the owner has amassed a great collection of South African wine (with a few French and American thrown in). Dinner will be more expensive than a lot of South Africa but it’s excellent food with great wine and a wonderful view. Overall this is a wonderful view in a great location, with good food and lovely staff.

The location, restaurant and especially the service is beyond words! everyone gives its best to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible… we had a blast and can recommend it to anyone that loves good food, great wine, spectacular views and a very comfortable room. We will definitely come back!

Beautiful property with stunning views. the restaurant was lovely although a little quiet, and the staff were very helpful arranging reservations and taxis in Knysna for us. I hope to stay here again one day!

The views were breathtaking. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was so friendly and went an extra mile. It was indeed home away from home.

Very clean, comfortable well equiped, beautiful accomodation with stunning view. The security officers were very friendly and helpful at the security entrance.Information regarding TV, Wifi, restaurants and other was clear & available.

The facility is in a quiet estate with scenic views and access to a private beach.

Everything was great, self catering facilities of the accommodation was great enough equipment to cook or braai. The location is so peaceful. Next time I'll be booking the 2 bedroom with Seaview unit. Luckily we could view this unit as it was vacant during our stay. The Housekeeping Lady was extremely warm and welcoming and explained the facilities in the room well. One tip, documents that need to be completed prior to arrival don't always push through via booking.com so best to make contact with the host to get documents sent directly to you.

Wendy was the most attentive host anyone could ask for. She paid attention to detail and was truly present. The check in and and check out process was seamless. The views from the balconies were immaculate. The facility is clean and feels luxurious. The mirrors made for perfect photo moments. Breakfast was delicious and had a huge variety. They cater for vegetarians and vegans as well. There is a lot of information about what to do in Knysna. The house is central. Getting to most places was easy. They are willing to make reservations for you at the various restaurants.

I loved the place, the rooms were spacious, contemporary, clean with a great view. Wendy was very helpful throughout the booking process and helped us make dinner reservations for Christmas night @ Knysna Water Front. The breakfast spread was great. It is a very cozy, well maintained property with great views and excellent service.

Somervreug is an absolute hidden gem. Pleasantly surprised by the actual accuracy of the hotel- in terms of being rated a five star ⭐️, it absolutely lives up to that. The kitchenette is very small but functional and the lounge area was the least used space, it was basically just a couch. • The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and everything was meticulously seen to as far as tv’s and en-suite bathrooms in every room goes, aircons, Charlotte Reese amenities and luxurious white robes in all 3 bathrooms! The breakfast was good, obviously limited because we are only halaal eating guests. But they did try their very best. The owner's son Louis- comes second to none as our breakfast mascot and highlight to the start of our morning. We all looked forward to his friendly banter and extremely helpful and sunny demeanour. He was an absolute charm. The staff were warm and friendly, and the areas are well designated for privacy and location is centralized. We had a ball of a time and would HIGHLY recommend Somervreug big and small families alike.

The location of the house is perfect, the heated pool and undisrupted views were amazing. The house itself is still new so everything was in good condition. The hosts were excellent and were easily contactable and kept in touch throughout our stay. Loved the attention to detail with regards to chocolates on arrival , complementary coffee, essential groceries and the board games that were made available to us. I would definitely come back and recommend this property

The house is absolutely gorgeous. It's a perfect fusion of stone, glass, steel, wood, and granite, with breathtaking views in every direction. Honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice. Everything has been thoughtfully designed for maximum comfort. It’s clear a lot of care went into making sure guests feel completely at home. The staff were incredible — they went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and stress free. I even forgot something of value at the house, and they express couriered it to me without hesitation. Don’t think twice — just book it. You won’t regret it...

The Location of the Headlands Guesthouse and especially the view from the Coney Glen Room over the bay and sea as well into the laguna are breathtaking. But also the sundowner on the pool deck or the view from the breakfast room are outstanding. The service was super friendly and the breakfast was very delicious. For sure the fitout of the rooms could be a bit more modern but the style has its own individual charm. A small house bar provided everything you needed for drinks and small snacks.

We were welcomed very warmly. After showing us around, everything was looking great. We had 2 beautiful rooms with a view at the Indian ocean and the Knysna Heads. Lovely breakfast with fruits, cereals, yoghurt and a choice of eggs any style. Free parking was in front of the guesthouse. At the deck there is a swimming pool. We wished that we could stay longer but had to move on to Franschhoek the next day. Next time we will stay a bit longer.

A wonderfully cozy and well-thought-out guesthouse. Beautiful garden with incredible plant and flower variety. Cute little curious and harmless monkeys who visit sometimes. Wonderful view. Huge, beautiful, varied, delicious breakfast buffet. Even a special egg menu that varied every day. Welcoming and super hospitable staff. Strongly recommend. The pool area really nice. The host made us feel very welcome.

We really enjoyed out time at Candlewood Lodge. There were five star amenities from the moment we walked in. The room was really big, beautiful views. Nice touches like fresh flowers and a welcome drink. The hotel property was immaculate, beautiful gardens, and really nice pool. Breakfast was outstanding, amazing touches.

Excellent hosts and all the staff were very friendly helping us book fantastic restaurants and guide us to local activities. Provision of beach bag with towels and water was a great touch. Great breakfast. Lovely pool area

We absolutely loved The Lofts and would urge anyone to stay on Thesen Island if visiting Knysna. The hotel has a cool vibe, right on the water you can jump in anytime for a dip. The pool is a plunge pool and you can't 'lie out' but there is seating and a gorgeous deck area for drinks & food. The food in The Nest and Il de Paine was fabulous, we had fantastic breakfasts and a dinner there, great service and quality. Special mention to Allan the host, he was exceptionally helpful and he showed us some of the great local bars/restaurants on the 'island' and he made us feel very welcome.

Beautiful place with super friendly staff. The hotel is really unusual, with the main area open in a loft style with lovely boutique shops right off it and busy restaurants and cafes in it. Great atmosphere. We were a group with one room and apartment (with two bedrooms) and they amazing overlooking the pool, we were genuinely shocked at how large and luxurious they were for the price, they were stunning. The restaurant which is tapas style was very tasty, and Candice our server could not have been more helpful, she really was wonderful. Shoutout as well to the french bakery for breakfast, the pastries are to die for. I think of it often!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Lofts Boutique Hotel in Knysna, South Africa. I was absolutely blown away by the level of service and attention to detail that I received from Allan and his team. The hotel is located in a great spot, right in the heart of Knysna. It's close to all the shops, restaurants, and bars, but it's also quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The staff at The Lofts are incredibly friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure that I had a wonderful stay. Allan himself was especially attentive and accommodating. He took the time to learn about my interests and make recommendations for things to do in the area. I would highly recommend The Lofts Boutique Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Knysna. I would also like to make a special thank you to Allan and his team for making my stay so enjoyable.

We wanted a room with a view, and staying at the Lofts in Tower 1, we certainly got it. Private terrace, facing the lagoon where we could enjoy the sunset. The room was lovely and comfortable, decorated as beachy-chic. Lovely strong shower, just what you need after a dip in the lagoon. The breakfast (at Nest) was tasty, the bar had a cool vibe and there were plenty of restaurant options within walking distance. Lots of cute spaces within the hotel to chill out in if you can tear yourself away from the terrace and the hotel has kayaks too. Special mention of the concierge Dylan, who was super passionate about all the garden route had to offer and was so helpful with hints and tips on what to do within and around Knysna.

A beautiful location on the edge of the lagoon. We were lucky to have room T1, a lake view with balcony. A large spacious room, great comfortable bed, excellent shower and facilities in a super boutique hotel. A stylish, superbly presented modern hotel, great staff and free water and even beers in the hotel guest fridge! The sunset was beautiful and we watched from the privacy of our room balcony. Only a short walk into Kynsa harbour and several great restaurants and bars. A truly lovely place all round.

This is a gem of a hotel with lovely views of the Knysna Heads and lagoon. It's beautifully decorated with lovely gardens and a pool. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. As it was winter, the log fires in the lounge and restaurant were very welcoming. Dinner and breakfast choices were very tasty. I cannot thank the staff enough for the way they looked after us - they are outstanding.

We had the lovely room with private swimming pool, close to the restaurant, with the most beautiful view. The staff were helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to treat us all the time. Dinner and breakfast was also excellent! We will definitely be back.

Truly Spectacular – A Dream Stay From start to finish, this place blew us away. The facilities are absolutely top-notch—everything felt thoughtfully designed and luxurious. The pool was a dream, and our room was cozy, stylish, and made us feel completely spoiled. Having complimentary access to bicycles and kayaks was such a treat—it really added to the experience. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the candlelit bath made for a perfect, relaxing evening. As I said before, and I’ll say again: this place is spectacular. Can’t wait to come back.

This is a beautiful hotel with a lovely terrace where you can have a drink and a meal and look out onto the bay. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice! Views are gorgeous. We enjwalking around the island. We also walked to a local restaurant which was nice. The hotel offers bikes and kayaks. We rode our bikes to East Heads cafe and had lunch there which was lovely. We wanted to use the kayaks but didn’t have time. Lovely stay.

Breakfast was incredible, views are unbeatable and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. We had the most special honeymoon at Amanzi! Would recommend for anyone looking to treat themselves to a relaxing holiday. We particularly enjoyed lounging by the pool and making use of the bicycles and canoes.

The brekkie was delicious and so were the cocktails by the pool! The hotel is located in such an ideal location within Knysna for restaurants and places to go for sundowners, although you would happily chill by the pool here all day as it's a lovely temperature and location looking over the canals. We booked in for Spa treatments the Knysna Journey and the Island Escape which we both loved too!

Best location on the Island. proximity to everything but also very quiet. I had a beautiful suite facing the canals and the pool area. Wonderful balcony, large spacious room with a lounge, kitchenette and separate bathroom with a bath.

A very unique and interesting hotel, with all the original turbine machinary very tastefully displayed all over the place.....very cool to wonder around and reflect on the history of Thesen Island and it's original purpose. The hotel is set beautifully between the canals of Thesen island and the entrance to the Knysna lagoon, offering fantastic views. The rooms are extremely comfortable, some offering balconeys overlooking the canals and pool area. Great restuarant on the premises and the most friendly staff encountered in a long time. 😎🤙🇿🇦🇿🇦

My family, including two young teens, stayed in a waterfront cabin for one night on our way through the garden route. Check-in was easy. Our host was pleasant. The cabin is compact with beautiful views out onto the estuary. It's clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a night's stay. The main bedroom is very pretty, with a large comfy bed, doors opening out onto the beach and a tree trunk growing through it. Just idyllic. There are two bathrooms which were lovely and clean. Personally, we would have preferred just one, with more space in the living area and kitchen instead, which were a little cramped, with limited comfy seating for four. We swam in the estuary, which was fresh on a winter's day, and used the kayaks, which was fun. We chose this location for the beach and it didn't disappoint on that. Throughout our stay, we felt safe and secure. If we come to Kynsna again, we'd probably stay in town, as there's not much happening at the heads. All in all, it was a pleasant stay. Thank you.

Sea side cottages are amazing, 1 meter from the beach with stunning views (it doesn't get better!). Cottages in the middle are less romantic in terms of views (we stayed in both). Personnel was really friendly, also reception very helpful and good availability. Free use of very accessible kayaks and sup board is great!! Very quiet sea for (young) kids!

The accommodation was clean and comfortable with a great kitchen plus BBQ and terrace for eating outdoors. The location was excellent just yards from a good sized and safe beach, perfect for families. There were padel-boards and kayaks for guests to use. Staff were all very friendly and helpful!

Everything at Under Milkwood is fabulous.This was our 2nd time and we booked a beachfront cabin this time which was well worth it. James who's been there for almost a decade welcomed us warmly and showed us to our cabin. The lagoon views are lovely and the gentle and constant ebb and flow of the lagoon waters was therapeutic. Being right on the waters edge meant we could step onto the beach and walk and wade in the lagoon or kayak whenever we wanted to. We slept well on the comfy king-size bed, the bathroom was a decent size and the kitchen had everything for a comfortable self-cater stay. We made a fire on the built in braai and sat on the patio watching the sunset, boats and people wade by. The highlight of our Knysna visit was the Featherbed Nature Reserve Eco Tour with lunch which we'd highly recommend. On disembarking the ferry at the reserve dock by the restaurant, we witnessed a massive Jelly Fish in the lagoon waters swimming around the dock! What a sighting! There's so much to explore in this area, but it's just as good relaxing all day at Under Milkwood by the lagoon. If we are fortunate enough to, we will definitely visit again ♡
